The novel centres on Rosie and Alex since childhood, they have stuck by each other through thick and thin. The two Irish best friends plan to move to the America together for college, until Rosie gets pregnant after a wild fling with a popular schoolmate. From there, the two take divergent paths, but never lose touch thanks to lively emails, notes and letters they exchange
For those of you who have read the novel you may slightly disappointed to find all references to Ireland have been replaced. It appears the producers were so concerned about Gerard Butler’s shocking attempt at an Irish accent in PS I Love You that they have decided instead to set the screenplay for Love Rosie in the UK. An issue which has irritated a considerable number of Irish actors who had hoped for a role in Love Rosie but those roles will now most likely be cast by UK actors.
The majority of the movie will be shot over a 6 week period in Ireland, with some work in Canada. However much of the tourism benefits which may have incurred by the presence of Irish scenery in a Hollywood movie that will be misplaced by the films setting in the UK.
