Grafton Media Blog Awards Ireland 2012 – Thank you for the nominations

Last Friday night just before midnight, the long list of Bloggers in 28 different categories were announced for the Grafton Media Blog Awards Ireland 2012!

Next the judging team will begin to reviewing all blogs nominated and select a short list that will be published on 8th September.

The Grafton Media Blog Awards Ireland 2012 is being held in Osprey Hotel in Naas, Co. Kildare on Saturday 13th October 2012. There will be a gala dinner, Dermot Whelan is M.C.

The Best Blog Post category is going to be judged by public vote and that will start in a couple of weeks. My blog post chosen is Why Ardmore is in danger of closing down, which has received over 2,500 individual views since it was published on March 10th 2012

I was very grateful to have received a long list nomination in 6 different categories. I have scanned through most of those nominated in my categories at this stage, some of whom I already follow. There are some amazing blogger in there and don’t envy the task of the judges. Now begins the terrifying wait to see who actually makes it onto the short list.

Little did I know when my dearest suggested to me  back in April 2010 that I should start a blog and so I did, with absolutely no knowledge of blogging or WordPress and still I am still learning to use new tools. At this stage I am hooked, the only problem can be finding the time to write up posts when I have something to say. Much of my interest for setting up this blog was to speak about my years of work in film, TV and theatre, and its been really fascinating to see the number of readers increasing over the past year. I was thrilled to have received such support and a massive thank you to those who nominated my blog, and I wish all my fellow bloggers the very best of luck.

Here are the categories I was chosen in.

Best blog of a Journalist

Best Arts and Culture Blog

Best Blog Post

Best Personal Blog

Best Designed Blog

Best political Blog

The hashtag for the Grafton Media Blog Awards is #bloggm so please do use it whenever you are tweeting about the blog awards.
