The 84th Oscars Irish nominations

The 84th Oscar nominations were announced earlier today, Martin Scorsese’s Hugo topped the list with eleven nominations, closely followed by The Artist with ten and Moneyball with six nominations.

From an Irish perspective it was great to see Albert Nobbs getting three nominations for Best Actress (Glenn Close), Best Supporting Actress (Janet McTeer) and Best Make Up (Martial Corneville, Lynn Johnston and Matthew W. Mungle). Filmed almost entirely at Cabinteely House.

In Best Short (Live Action) there were 2 Irish nominations, Director Peter McDonald’s and producer Eimear O’KanePentecost’, and Terry George’s ‘The Shore’ both getting a nod.

Michael Fassbender might feel somewhat disappointed not been nominated for his performance in Shame.
