Setanta Ireland begins an Irish movie season, with The Last Bus Home

Setanta Ireland as part of a new partnership with the Irish Film Board and will be showing Irish films every weekday night at 9pm during this summer.

Starting off next Monday with The Last Bus Home about a Dublin rock band in the 1970s, staring Annie Ryan, Brian F. O’Byrne,  it was one of the first feature I work on as a construction manager back in a time when actually working on film was fun. I have yet to see it so I’m looking forward to that. I wonder what ever happened to Johnny Gogan?

Keeps an eye on Setanta Ireland for other Irish features coming up, but can they really have enough Irish features to show 5 nights a week for the rest of the summer?

It’s an interesting move by Setanta Ireland and the Irish Film Board I wonder why RTE could not have done this years ago?

Shame it comes on the back of news – that Starz have decided to axe series two of Camelot, leaving a big gaping hole in this year’s Irish film production and I’m sure it leaves a lot of crew concerned how they will pay bills this year.
